For your diary
Vocally Wild Winter Concert, Saturday 2 September
Beaumaris Community Hall 3.00pm.
If you've been wavering about coming to the concert, now's the time to just do it. Join in on Tuesday reahearsal, iron your blacks, and come along and enjoy the songs. That's what a community choir is for. At Tuesday’s rehearsal (29/8) we’ll have the chairs set up and wil run through coming into the hall at the start, so we want to finalise the choir seating.
Our guest numbers are building, but it’s not too late to round up more friends and family. It's a special day and a special concert first time in our own hall, not to mention a grand piano!. Tickets at the door or book at https://www.trybooking.com/CJNJO.
A special thanks to Pat for stepping in to help with promotions as always, despite the change of date cruelly doing her out of the concert. We wish you and Alan a great trip, Pat.
Connor’s Run, Sunday 10 September
https://www.connorsrun.com/home
Thanks to all who have put their name down to come. The organisers love having us and it's a great local event, so rug up and come along. We’ll be singing from 8.00am until 10.30/11.00am.

- meet at 7.45am — earlier if you can help with help setting up
- meet at the grassy patch beside the Albert Park Yacht Club, top of Kerferd Road and Beaconsfield Parade
- wear choir black but have warm clothing — warm jackets/puffers, beanies, scarves, gloves, warm shoes — can be really cold, especially if it’s windy
- bring your song book!

Bayside Carols, Tuesday 12 December
Dendy Park East Brighton
Russel has started into the early stages of planning with the Council. The program arrangements will not be without their challenges and will again require a major commitment of the choir's time and resources.
Rehearsals are on three Saturday mornings ( 25 Nov 25, 2 Dec 2 and 9 Dec) with the final rehearsal on Sun 10 December (evening). Times and venues to be confirmed, but please pencil the rehearsal dates in your diary — it’s important to get to as many of the practice sessions as possible.

Jamie Miles – Violist Extra-ordinaire
Monday, 14thAugust was indeed a very special evening! Fifteen Vocally Wilders ventured to Brunswick to attend Jamie’s Concert prior his visit to Germany.
Eighteen of us dined at the Edinburgh Pub nearby (it was a bonus that Kate, Charlotte and Bill joined us there for a drink and meal) then on we trotted off to ‘Tempo Rubato, a few steps around the corner.
The venue was perfect; the Program a sublime set of pieces by: Robert Schumann, Max Reger, J. S. Bach, NiccolòPaganini, Sally Beamish and Rebecca Clarke.
The full house listened and watched in awe as Jamie performed his wonderful program. In the Adagio and Allegro, Op 70 (Schumann) and Viola Sonata (Rebecca Clark) Jamie was accompanied by brilliant pianist, Konrad Olszewski. To add even more interest to the event, Jamie introduced the composer of ‘Ariel for Viola Solo’, Sally Beamish, who just happened to be in Melbourne that day and was delighted to be able to be present as Jamie played her composition. Sally spoke about the history of the piece and how she created it. What a treat it all was.
Well, how does a layperson summarise this delightful, humble and so extremely talented young man’s amazing performance? Two words — Just superb! Jamie has the most brilliant career ahead of him, that’s for sure.
We all wish Jamie well in Munich, when he competes in the prestigious German Broadcasting Association A.R.D. International Competition (ages 17 to 35) in September. Thank you for a wonderful experience Jamie.
