Just a brief ‘holiday version’ newsletter today! Hope you all had a happy and joyous, albeit rather damp, Easter and that you’re now loving the glorious Indian Summer; long may it last.
As a reminder, see our Diary, to date. We have added some half hour, extra ‘parts’ rehearsals, to our normal Tuesday rehearsals for the five weeks prior to our Concert on 27th August. These dates are shown. You may wish to pop your particular early start in your own diary. Of course, don’t fret if you can’t make it, we just hope many will take advantage of this. Thank you to Bill and Emma for making themselves available so willingly.
Later in the newsletter, please have a look at the ‘lyrics’ Judith Durham penned to ‘Advance Australia Fair’. We are hoping to be able to sing this interpretation at our Concert, so if you have any concerns regarding this, please let anyone on the Committee know.

BEAUMARIS R.S.L. ANZAC PARADE AND SERVICE - SUNDAY, 23RD APRIL
We hope as many of you as possible are able to attend the Commemorative March and Service on Sunday. If any of your friends, who were Vocally Wild members in the past, wish to come along too, they are of course very welcome. All details were forwarded earlier in the week, but please let me know if you need any further information. Bill and Emma will be there and we’ll meet for rehearsal at 1.00 p.m. If you don’t wish to march, you are of course welcome to stay at the seating area.
May I take this opportunity to thank Sue Beazley for all her efforts in co-ordinating details between Vocally Wild and the R.S.L., and Beaumaris Bowls Club for their invitation to afternoon tea at the conclusion of the event? The R.S.L. Ladies Auxiliary always provides a splendid spread.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – 7.30 P.M. BEAUMARIS TENNIS CLUB
We encourage all to come to our A.G.M. on Wednesday, 17th May. The Beaumaris Tennis Club, is on the beach side of the car park at the Beaumaris Community Centre. We have some vacancies on the Committee and look forward to seeing new faces, hearing new voices! It’s a really cheerful and interesting committee to belong to; meetings are very efficient (usually from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m. – they very rarely go over time!!); all are made warmly welcome at Cherry and Rob’s place in Sandringham, and the Committee always has the genuine interests of our amazing Vocally Wild Choir at heart. Please consider it!
The vacancies are:
- President (Russel will remain on Committee)
- Treasurer (Julie to retire from role and Committee)
- Hon. Sec. (Pat to retire from role and Committee)
- Additional Committee Member, at least one position.
Nomination forms will be available at the table as you enter our Tuesday rehearsals. You may also nominate, or be nominated, on the night of the A.G.M. Rest assured, you will be given whatever assistance/support you require or need! See you there!
WEBSITE
It was pleasing last term to see how many of you are accessing the website for our rehearsal recordings – it is a wonderful resource.
Fee Policy: An additional question and answer has been added to the FAQ section regarding Fees for those who wish to return to or join Vocally Wild mid semester, for example in Term 4. The additional section reads:
Q. How much do I have to pay if I join mid-semester?
A. We don’t offer pro-rata payments, therefore you would need to pay for the full semester.
JUDITH DURHAM’S LYRICS (new lyrics to an old tune)
Australians let us stand as one, upon this sacred land
A new day dawns, we’re moving on to trust and understand.
Combine our ancient history and cultures everywhere,
To bond together for all time, Advance Australia Fair.
With joyful hearts then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.
Australians let us all be one, with peace and harmony.
Our precious water, soil and sun, grant life for you and me.
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts to love, respect and share,
And honouring the Dreaming, Advance Australia Fair.
With joyful hearts then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.
Australians let us strive as one, to work with willing hands.
Our Southern Cross will guide us on, as friends with other lands.
While we embrace tomorrow’s world with courage, truth and care,
And all our actions prove the words, Advance Australia Fair,
With joyful hearts then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.
And when this special land of ours is in our children’s care,
From shore to shore forever more, Advance Australia Fair.
With joyful hearts then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.

P.S. if you are able to come early on some Tuesday rehearsal evenings to help set out the chairs, it would be very much appreciated. We always have plenty of help putting them away, so thank you indeed!
Look at the beautiful butterfly Susie Munroe captured on her phone a while ago! A rare sight lately!
