Our ‘Welcome’ evening was delightful – thank you for coming along early and joining in. Thank you also to Kerry for organising and setting up the food. We must organise more of these occasions!

ANZAC PARADE/SERVICE – SUNDAY, 23RD APRIL
Bill and Emma have happily and generously volunteered their time to lead us in this community involvement that so many of us love being part of. We’ll spend some of the final two Tuesdays this term rehearsing for the ANZAC service – all details for this will forwarded shortly - but, for your diaries, we meet at 1.00 p.m. for rehearsal with St. Leonard’s College Band at the Cenotaph area behind the Beaumaris Community Centre.
The Service commences at 3.00 p.m. following the Parade which departs Beaumaris Concourse at 2.45 p.m. Afternoon tea will be served at the Beaumaris Bowls Club and all are invited. A flyer will be forwarded separately if you wish to forward it on to friends and family.
As the ANZAC commemorations occur during school holidays, our two Tuesday rehearsals and final one on the day will be very valuable! If current members have the relevant sheet music, please bring them along and Maggie will supply music sheets for new members and those who don’t have it. Hymns, songs will be confirmed in the sheet to be forwarded.
News regarding John de Cruz Douglas
John has been named Bayside Senior Citizen of the Year - “John de Cruz Douglas OAM was honoured for his contribution to the community as Parade Commander of the ANZAC and Remembrance Services for the Beaumaris RSL for over twenty years.”
Well done to John. So very well deserved.
V.W. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – WEDNESDAY, 17TH MAY
Venue: Beaumaris Tennis Club (next to the Beaumaris Community Centre.
Time: 7.30 p.m.
You are all very welcome to come along when the new Committee for 2023/24 will be elected. Official announcement of the A.G.M. will be forwarded shortly.
Russel will retire as President; however he will be available for election as a Committee member. Pat will retire as Hon. Sec. and retire from the Committee. We are also hoping to add to the Committee number as there has been a vacancy for several months.
This is a great opportunity for you to consider being involved in the Committee. It’s a happy, friendly and co-operative environment; meetings at Cherry’s are delightful and welcoming. Please let one of us know if you would like more information. Names/contacts at the end of the Newsletter.
FUND RAISER FOR PIANO
There is plenty of action in this area! We have been granted $1,500 from the Sandringham Community Bank (Bendigo Bank) towards our ‘piano’ funds, for which we are extremely grateful, and currently have a separate grant application under way – details of course will be gladly given should we be successful, so watch this space!

As many of you know, Lesley has been missing in Term 1 because she has been rehearsing a play that opened at La Mama HQ in Carlton on last night. The show, called "Flesh Disease", runs until the 25 March.
Some performances are booked out, but tickets are still available. The show is about how five women experience and survive mental health issues. The Sunday matinee includes a Q & A about mental health.
And yes, Lesley will be singing in the show. See details below.
