Dear Members,
At the time of writing, and if all our stars are in alignment and Bayside Council’s regulations allow it, we should all be singing again on Tuesday, 13th July for Term 3, at Beaumaris Community Hall, 7.30 p.m. So, unless you hear from us to the contrary, see you there! (Bill has some exciting new/old music for us, see details below).
Don’t forget to bring your keep cup! Also, Rob Tunnock will be joining us on our first night back to take some photos for our Website, so please wear something bright and cheerful!!
The A.G.M. will be going ahead on Monday, 12th July, 7.30 p.m. at the Beaumaris Community Tennis Clubroom, which is adjacent to the car park. Please come along if you are able to and if you would like to nominate someone for Committee, this is a good opportunity.

Connor’s Run, singing engagement. Details TBC |
I won’t repeat our full Calendar here, but please note that there has been a change to our Concert date. Unfortunately, we couldn’t book the Brighton Town Hall for Sunday, 29th November (no bookings available there for November or December this year), so our Concert will now be held on our last Tuesday rehearsal night, Tuesday, 7th December, at our rehearsal hall in Beaumaris, 7.30 p.m. It will be a Christmas theme. Even if we are hindered because of Covid during the next few months, we will certainly be able to string together some Christmas Carols and Songs and, along with the beautiful songs we are learning at the moment, this should be a joyous ending to the year.
Please note also that the dates mentioned for our Carols in the Park rehearsals and performance are tentative at the moment. We have had no confirmation yet that Carols will be going ahead at this stage, which is perfectly understandable. However, we will let you know as soon as there is some news.
FROM OUR MUSIC DIRECTOR
Bill has been busy arranging a ‘Crazy for You’ Medley for us to learn in the coming weeks. Maggie will bring along the sheet music at the start of term and Bill asks if you could please (particularly Sops 2, Alto and Tenor) bring a highlighter pen with you so that when he explains which pieces of music are relevant for these parts, you can highlight them. Bill will have created practice recordings too, so this is something else to look forward to.
Bill is also keen to follow up on an offer to us from The Australian Music Vault, who are involved with a project providing free music arrangements for community and school choirs to encourage more people to sing great Australian music.
We will be guided by the songs you would like to sing from the list below, so please let me know which ones appeal to you:
John Farnham “You’re The Voice”
Drapht “The Magic”
Crowded House “Don’t Dream It’s Over”
Sia “Diamonds”
Emily Wurramara “Black Boy”
The Seekers “Keep a Dream in Your Pocket”
Killing Heidi “Weir”
Paul Kelly “Leaps and Bounds”
MEMBERSHIP (Message from Cherry)
Payment for Semester 2
Invoices for Semester 2 (Terms 3 & 4) will be coming soon. Since we only attended for half of Term 2, the Committee has decided to charge pro rata fees for this Semester to compensate all those who paid full fees for Term 2. Therefore, instead of $160.00 for the six months, those members will be invoiced $120.00. If you have any queries about this, please don’t hesitate to contact our Membership Secretary, Cherry Tunnock
Thanks Cherry. Not many of you will realise what a busy role Membership Secretary is. Cherry is very dedicated and does a wonderful job looking after everything to do with membership with everyone’s interests at heart: managing the intricacies of the Waiting List, arranging for new member arrivals, name badges, recording attendances, etc. Cherry is also in the process of preparing a Vocally Wild archive, both digital and hard copy, covering all relevant documents so that these can be accessed by current and future committees. Once again, thank you Cherry.
To end on a lighter note:
........this is a hoot (for those of us who have
Facebook concerns!!
See you very soon.
Please email me on patlow5@bigpond regarding your Australian song choices!!
Kind regards,
Pat.and the Committee.
