Only a brief Newsletter this month, but this is to say how wonderful it was to return to singing again last Tuesday for our first ANZAC rehearsal and to see so many of you there. Thank you to Bill who led us so generously and enthusiastically, taking everything in his stride. It was such fun. The venue’s acoustics weren’t the best, but at least it is somewhere to meet up for our two rehearsal sessions.
Grateful thanks go to all the Committee and all helpers in preparing for last Tuesday night, in particular Cherry’s merry band of helpers! It was amazing how quickly and efficiently they cleaned down the chairs, spaced them out and organised the clearing away too. Fabulous! We will follow similar safety measures next Wednesday too, just to be on the safe side, but wasn’t it good not to wear a mask for singing?
Sue Beazley has sent the RSL 2021 versions of: the Naval Hymn, I Am Australian words and music and Song of Australia words and music. I will email these to you separately. You may wish to either print them out or alter your own sheets, so that we are all ‘singing on the same page’ so to speak! Maggie won’t be copying out any more, so please check your copies against the emailed attachments. Thank you!
You will have received the flyer with all details regarding the ANZAC March and Service on the 18th April. Bill Gleadall, who usually plays the World War 1 melodies on the piano during the singalong at the end of the afternoon, sadly won’t be able to be there this year, so if you are a pianist and can play these oldies, or know someone who can, Sue would be really happy to hear from you. Please contact her on If you missed the flyer, please let me know and I will send you one.
Term 2 will commence on Tuesday, 20th April. We won’t be using the Holloway Road hall but our new venue hasn’t yet been confirmed, so please wait patiently to hear more detail. You will also soon be hearing about the recruitment process for our Music Director!
