Dear All,
We hope that you are all coping with the changed situation and making the most of the quiet and solitude if you possibly can. No doubt in the months ahead we will look back and wish that we had completed this job or that while we had the spare time, like the dreaded oven cleaning for example!!
The Committee met last night, via Hangout. We are rapidly becoming familiar with Hangout, Zoom and other whiz bang apps to help us with our meeting and socialising. (See item on Zoom). There isn't a lot to report in this Newsletter, as far as general items go, but some items of interest are below.
Diana will commence sending 'Pep-Up" packages to you all shortly, on a fornightly basis. These will include warm-ups, parts recordings, etc. so hopefully you will enjoy these and we will have some continuity when we return to Choir.
There are many ideas for on-line singing and entertainment. Sue Hardy phoned today with an excellent suggestion - see the details below. Thank you Sue. Note - if you wish to see the Australian Ballet's free streaming of 'Sleeping Beauty', this finishes tomorrow at 5.00 p;.m..
FROM SUE HARDY::
I wondered if some of our members might be interested in participating in the following. Note: the deadline for recordings is April 19th and application for the material can be made now. The video recording can be done by phone and instructions are in the following link. It could be fun.

ANZAC DAY VIRTUAL CHOIR
This ANZAC Day, we invite you to join musicians of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and MSO Chorus, in a special commemorative video project. Debuting on ANZAC Day weekend, this performance of Banjo Paterson’s Waltzing Matilda is part of MSO’s commitment to #KeepTheMusicGoing throughout the COVID-19 Global pandemic.
Another item of note the Australian Ballet are streaming their 2020 production of the classic, Sleeping Beauty, free until 5 pm tomorrow Friday. https://australianballet.com.au/tv/the-sleeping-beauty-by-the-australian-ballet
ZOOM
Committee is looking at possibly taking out a subscription for the online communication tool Zoom. This would allow members to communicate, socialise and sing together in groups during the isolation period. Zoom would cater for up to 100 people at the standard package rate, which is reasonably priced. Hosting this would entail a fair amount of time and commitment: the host would need to set up meetings, communicate the links, co-ordinate the different devices people use and generally run the programme. There would be some difficulty with handling a large group at once, so smaller groups could be 'sent' into different 'rooms' and then join together at the end of the session. Sound and vision quality might vary depending on the types of devices used. However, we are keen, if you are, and we are now:
LOOKING SOMEONE FROM OUR CHOIR COMMUNITY WHO WOULD ENJOY TAKING UP THIS CHALLENGE AND RUNNING THE COMMUNITY ZOOM SESSIONS !!
