Graham will put any recordings of these sessions on a USB stick', so if you have any, please contact Graham.
BAREFOOT BOWLS – SINGALONG – BARBECUE. SUNDAY, 10TH NOVEMBER
Following a recent survey as to choice of activity for our end of year function, it was evident that Barefoot Bowls was the most preferred. As a result, the Black Rock Bowls Club, Fern Street, Black Rock, has been booked for Sunday, 10th November, from 3.00 to 8.00 p.m. There will be no cost to members - barbecue food and salads wlll be provided. The bar will be available to us, so we just ask that your drinks be purchased at the bar (at bar prices). Bare feet are usually recommended, but if you wish to wear shoes, in order to protect the greens, they need to have completely flat soles. There is a piano too, so singing might just also be on the menu! More detail to follow closer to the time.
SOCIAL GET-TOGETHER
Edwina and Rob have kindly offered their home for a social catch up on Sunday, 4th August, 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. at 106 Male Street, Brighton. All drinks provided by the V.W. Committee - there will be some nibbles but you may wish to bring a plate to share. Partners welcome. Video of the recent Annual Concert to be on view for added entertainment!.

UPDATE ON CROATIA TRIP, 2020
Lidia and the team's plans are going well for the 'Viva Melbourne' choir trip to Croatia. The group will depart on 28th March, stay three nights in Venice prior to the 5-Day Festival which commences in Porec on 1st April. There are 37 travellers at this stage, including Diana and Doug, 22 women, 6 men and 7 partners. Rehearsals begin with a Workshop in October and two more rehearsals this year, followed by 7 rehearsals in February and March, culminating with an afternoon Concert on Sunday, 15th March at the Black Rock Bowls Club.
REPORT ON FESTIVAL OF VOICES, HOBART, 2019
Cecilia, Cherry, Maggie and Pat attended the 2019 festival for 4 days, 3 nights recently, to check on the viability of organising Vocally Wild’s participation in the 2020 Festival. This visit was a huge success, with many highlights, and we were all convinced that this would be a perfect opportunity for the choir to attend an Australian choral festival next year. Details to be available at the back of the hall in two weeks’ time and during Announcements, Cecilia, Cherry, Maggie and Pat will give a brief description. Pat will put a sheet on the table for expressions of interest.

JULIE ANDREWS
The Sound of Music Sing-along at Hamer Hall is tomorrow, 21st July, so a bit late to be mentioning it above, I suspect, but as a co-incidence, the following popped up on Facebook, as things tend to do (!). I’m not sure if it’s genuine, but it’s pretty clever, so I hope it is true. Here it is:
To commemorate her 79th birthday, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favourite Things" from the legendary movie "The Sound Of Music". Here are the lyrics she used:
(Sing It!) - If you sing it, it’s especially hysterical!!!
Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favourite things.
Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favourite things.
When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favourite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.
Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favourite things.
Back pains, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favourite things.
When the joints ache, When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.
(Ms. Andrews apparently received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.
Kind regards,
Pat.
