Welcome back! Trust you had a good break and hope Term 2 will be enjoyable and stimulating - it will be a busy one certainly.
This Newsletter will be brief, as yours truly is in the UK, but some information is still able to be sent out, particularly the song titles for the Concert, see below. Diana and many others were really happy with how the choir performed at the ANZAC service. Thank you to all who attended on Easter Sunday and, of course, Diana and Patrice..
You will be delighted to hear that the Southern Area Concert Band now has a new Musical Director, Dr. Andrew Mathers, who will commence officially on 27th May. It will be wonderful for us all to meet him and sing with the band, in due course.
Thank you Sue Beazley, and the Committee, from us all, for arranging the beautiful floral tribute to Gloria Holmes. Gloria was a unique person and will be remembered fondly by so many of us. Thank you also to John Barlow who is going through the fairly complicated process of updating our VW website. More to come of course, but don't forget to check it out - www.vocallywild.org.au

Cherry and Maggie will organise delivery of the Concert flyer shortly so that you can start encouraging family and friends to come along to the Brighton Town Hall on Friday, 14th June, 8.00 p.m start. Further details, cost, etc on the flyer.
Song selection: Diana, of course, decides on music selection, based on quality of arrangement, learnability, suitability and timeline, but if you have a strong desire to sing a particular favourite, Diana reminds us that it is preferable that you search out a SAB version of sheet music (or SATB as a last resort).

DIANA CLARK-DE VRIES & CADENCE "SING IN THE TUNE OF THE MOON" - SUNDAY, 2ND JUNE
Diana will be singing some of her new works, together with classics from earlier albums, in a sunset concert with Cadence, at 5.00 p.m on Sunday, 2nd June at St. Agnes Anglican Church, 35 Arkaringa Crescent, Black Rock. Cost: Adults $15, Concession $10, Children under 12 free..
Diana will be holding two more of her Song Circles Singing/Meditation sessions on Sunday, 28th April and Sunday, 26th May at the Castlefield Commumity Centre, 505 Bluff Road, Hampton, from 1.30 to 3.00 p.m. Tickets: $20/$15 pre booked. Note: Doug de Varies will have some exciting concert events from August. He is currently playing guitar and mandolin in the Opera Australia production of West Side Story at the State Theatre (until 28th April).

An amazing workshop opportunity for people working with children - a day of professional development for teachers. Date: 28th April. Cost: $60. THE POWER OF HARMONY WORKSHOP
Workshop led by Naomi Crellin and Nick Begbie. Nick is the Leader and Naomi is the Musical Director of Australia's longest running and most awarded a cappella group The Idea of North. They will lead participants through the emotive and expressive power of harmony singing. This all takes place during the Festival of Voices Tasmania, 2019. (We will be getting a group together next year to this Festival and will be able to have similar experiences). Cheerio from Marske by the Sea, on the coast just off the North Yorks Moors. Beautiful - my little corner of the world. The Marske Fisherman's Choir is celebrating its 50th year this summer. They will be taking part in many events in Whitby. Duncan Vickers, Allan and my Best Man, was the founder of this wonderful bunch of Yorkshiremen. They sing for charity all over Britain, mainly for the RNLI and Cheshire Homes and have recorded many albums over the years. They're the tops in my opinion!! Our dear best man, Duncan, has passed on now, but the lads still sing their sea shanties sporting their navy guernsies! Our 3 grandchildren started school in the local primary yesterday for a term - wonderful experience for them. The twins went on an excursion today (their 2nd day) to climb Roseberry Topping - our local 'mountain'!! Great fun. Lovely weather for "Up North" !!
