As you will see from the Diary dates below, it will be Vocally Wild's Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 3rd April, 7.30 p.m. in the Players' Room, Sandybeach. All are welcome to come along. It is usually a short meeting, about one hour, but you will be able to hear how your choir has been functioning and where your money goes. This is the day following the last Tuesday of Term 1. Hopefully you all enjoyed the recent long weekend. On the Sunday, Fran Ponsonby, Cherry Tunnock, Heather Spooner and Cecilia Stone had a particularly good day witnessing the superb performance of Doug de Vries. Here is Fran's brilliant description of their joyful experience:
HOW TO SPEND MONDAY AFTERNOON OF THE LABOUR DAY WEEKEND by Fran Ponsonby.
On Monday afternoon we were treated to a musical feast at the Conservatorium of Music’s Melba Hall, as part of the Monday Lunch Hour Concert Series. The program was titled Jobiniana, a homage to Antonio Carlos Jobim. Widely considered as one of the great exponents of Brazilian music, Jobim is the artist who internationalised Bossa Nova. Diana’s husband, Doug de Vries, is one of Australia’s foremost guitarists and composers who excels in many musical genres with a particular love and passion for Brazilian music. In collaboration with two other wonderful guitarists, Dr Ken Murray and Rose Gonzalez, Doug adapted and arranged this program of Brazilian music for two and three guitars. Doug’s passion and versatility in arrangement and performance were evident in the balance and harmony exhibited by all three guitarist, evoking the sounds and senses of Brazil. It has left us feeling inspired to further explore not only the music of Brazil but the food and culture.

Please meet at the rear of the Beaumaris Community Centre, at the rear of Bayside Library, Reserve Road, Beaumaris, at 1.00 p.m. on Sunday, 21st April, for rehearsal of the songs for the march and ceremony. Assemble for March - 2.15 p.m, into line for March by 2.30 p.m. The March begins at 2.45 p.m. and the Service commences at 3.00 p.m.

OPEN MIC NIGHT
Dianne is organising another Open Mic session for the end of this term, Tuesday, 2nd April, during the second half of the night, during refreshments. So if you wish to take part, please contact Dianne on 0410 583 496 or mazbirch@bigpond.com Patrice has kindly agreed to play piano for those who require accompaniment (please bring your music to Patrice next Tuesday). Talents in the areas of poetry, drama, recitation, monologues, comedy, playing musical instruments as well as vocal, will be most welcome. We hope that this will be a regular feature for our end of term evenings, so if you feel you're not ready this term, do mention to Dianne that you're interested in a future Open Mic night.

KINGSTON ARTS CENTRE - CHORAL ACTIVITY REGISTRATION DAY
Kingston Arts are hoping to capitalise on the wealth of choral groups in Kingston and surrounds and provide an opportunity for keen choristers to diversify their practice and collaborate with members of other choirs on a large, innovative project. Sean Kavanagh, who is employed by K.A.C., has been working with singer-songwriter Fred Smith and Andrew Price from ‘Men in Suits’ to develop an idea that they hope to see culminate in a major performance at Kingston City Hall in September this year.. Registration Day has been scheduled for Saturday, 4th May. Most will remember Sean who came to Choir last year to explain more about the initiative, pointing out, of course, that the success of the project depends on the enthusiastic involvement of members of the choral community. This isn't a Vocally Wild planned event, but it sounds as though it will be a very worthwhile thing to do, and fun too. More detail to follow.

This is for adults only and suited to anyone working with young people, aged 0 to 10 in early years settings, library staff, home school parents and primary school teachers. The aim is to offer participants an experience in taking the first steps in leading singing and music together with more advanced skills, a fun repertoire, games and tips. A REMINDER FROM RUSSEL RE DEALING WITH V.W. MAILING
A number of people have said they don't get emails from Vocally Wild. We found that people with Bigpond accounts or Hotmail accounts may be effected by the way Bigpond and Hotmail deal with emails, which seem like spam. So for Bigpond or Hotmail users, I am letting you know how to ensure you always get emails from VW. If you normally use webmail (i.e. you use a browser to view your emails), check the junk folder and mark emails from VW as Not Junk. Doing this "whitelists" VW, and subsequent emails are more likely to be delivered If you use Outlook to view your emails, you need to use webmail to have a look at your junk folder to fix this problem. This is because Bigpond and Hotmail do not deliver emails which are considered to be spam to your Outlook junk folder. You need to mark emails from VW as Not Junk. Doing this "whitelists" VW, and subsequent emails are more likely to be delivered.
CHOIR TRIP TO CROATIA (ISTRIA) APRIL, 2020
The first meeting took place last Tuesday and this was really well attended. Lidia briefly described the history of Istria, together with plans so far for the trip, and the approximate costing. Notes from this meeting will be sent to those who attended shortly.

CHELSEA PLUMLEY IN 'MURIEL'S WEDDING - THE MUSICAL'
Many of you will remember singing with Chelsea Plumley a few years ago! The local paper's recent article, with the headline "Hampton Mum from Fairy Queen to Bill's Mistress" caught Sue's eye! Yes, Chelsea is now an award winning musical theatre and cabaret performer and has the honour of joining the all new cast in Muriel's Wedding the Musical as Deirdre Chambers, the memorable beautician and mistress of Muriel's dad, Bill. All the very best to Chelsea, as she struts her stuff in this newly made-over version especially reworked for Melbourne. Cast members also include Natalie Abbott (Muriel) and Stefanie Jones (Rhonda). Director is Simon Phillips. The show opens on the 23rd March.
